Boy, what a day to be out on the Lower Mountain Fork River! With the temperature sizzling at 94 degrees and clear skies blessing us all around, there’s no better spot to be than out fishing. I tell ya, days like these, the sun reflecting off the water, make you appreciate the simple pleasures. And let me tell you, the rainbow trout were mighty kind to us today!
From daylight till mid-afternoon, those beautiful rainbows couldn’t resist the charm of Pautzke fire minnows. Using a Carolina rig in about 20 feet of water, the fish were biting like nobody’s business. I reckon they must’ve been starving because we had a steady stream of bites the entire morning. There’s something magical about the way those Pautzke fire minnows glisten and wriggle that drives the trout wild. It was near impossible to keep up with the action!
Every cast felt like a promise of yet another adventure. The thrill of reeling in those feisty rainbows made the warmth of the day feel just right. Sometimes, the most cherished memories are made on days like this, under the Oklahoma sun with a fire minnow at the end of your line. Ending the day with such a successful catch, it only reminds me why I love fishing on the Lower Mountain Fork. Here’s to many more days like today, where every hour is packed with excitement and joy!
